Good Uni Guide 2010 shows UTAS stars
The University of Tasmania is continuing to earn it stars in The Good Universities Guide 2010
UTAS has received a five star rating for access and equity, which ranks it in the top 20 per cent of Australian universities and in the top three universities for rates of participation from low socio-economic areas. The university also received four-star ratings for teaching quality and research, putting UTAS ahead of many of the larger, metropolitan universities in other states.
UTAS Vic-Chancellor Professor Daryl Le Grew said the rankings for teaching quality,
research and equity show what an important contribution the University makes. “Not only are we an institution with high ranking levels of teaching and research, we are an inclusive and welcoming university,” he said.
The 2010 Guide also says that UTAS continues to be attractive to international students, saying that it was likely the teaching quality and research reputation, as well as the relative low cost of living, were attractive. Prof Le Grew said UTAS continues to attract international students from many countries, with the most being from South East Asia. However, there is also a significant number now coming from other countries, including the United States.
“Tasmanians can be proud to have UTAS as an international university working out of Tasmania, attracting students locally, nationally and internationally,” he said.
